How to balance your hormones naturally

You’ve tried every diet on the planet.

 

You’ve increased your workouts from 5 days a week to 6.

 

You’ve completely removed your one cheat meal a week because you feel like this might FINALLY be the reason why the scale isn’t budging….

 

How familiar does this sound?

 

As women and even as evolving human beings we tend to want to change things up when they aren’t working for us. Hoping this little “tweak” will do the trick and we will finally see abs.

 

But sometimes what you’re doing IS the right thing, and something else is going on: Hormone Imbalance.

 

You may be thinking to yourself, “no way, I’ve been on birth control for 10 years, I never have cramps, and my Gynecologist says I am just fine.”

 

Whether or not you are on birth control, so many environmental toxins, foods, and chemicals that are present in today’s world throw off our hormones whether or not we feel physical symptoms.

 

Unless you live on a farm, grow your own food, and have never put a chemical on top of your body (parabens are in almost every single cosmetic product) there is a very high chance your hormones are not balanced and toxins are to blame.

 

Here are some things that we absorb daily through food and environmental factors:

 

  • Pesticides (Non organic fruits and vegetables)

  • Growth hormones (dairy and even whey protein that isn’t organic or all natural)

  • Antibiotics (in ALL meats that are not organic)

  • Fungicides (in ALL fruits and vegetables that are not organic)

  • Preservatives (almost ALL packaged and processed foods)

  • Artificial coloring agents (cereals, flavored drinks, gum)

  • Rancid oils (canola and rapeseed oil)

  • Fungicides (plant spray)

  • GMO’s (ALL non organic foods)

  • Phthalates and plastics (perfumes, cosmetics, air fresheners, laundry                     detergents)

  • Endocrine disruptors (cosmetic products that are not natural)

  • Fluoride (ALL unnatural toothpastes)

 

Excessive dieting and exercise can also lead to imbalanced hormones which can all be reversed with a proper protocol.

 

What are some physical, mental and emotional symptoms of hormone imbalance?

 

  • Skin problems (acne, rosacea, psoriasis)

  • Inability to lose weight or unexplained weight gain

  • Intense PMS and cramping during your period

  • Very heavy periods

  • Spotting in-between periods (PCOS, Fibroids)

  • Hair loss

  • Brain fog

  • Low sex drive

  • Trouble sleeping

  • Lack of energy

 

What can you do about this if you have one, or maybe all of these symptoms?

 

The first course of action is to begin to implement all natural products in your home. This means taking inventory of your kitchen, bathroom, shower, and even workplace to see what you may be unnecessarily putting on top or inside of your body.

  • Limit alcohol use which increases estrogen which at increased levels can be the reason you aren’t losing weight.

  • Incorporate maca root into your daily regimen which helps to balance hormones (always check with your doctor before taking new supplements if you are currently taking medications)

  • Eat only organic meats, fruits and vegetables.

  • Limit caffeine to 1-2 cups per day and skip the sugar.

  • Add in Omega-3 fatty acids and coconut oil daily.

  • Get at least 7-8 hours of sleep every night as sleep is vital for healthy and                  happy hormones.

 

Hormone imbalance is a very serious thing that not only affects your quality of life, but can have serious health implications later in life if not treated and addressed properly.
